Mimosa Architects is a team of young architects; its members are Pavel Matyska, Jana Zoubková and Petr Moráček.
Our first joint projects were put together whilst we were students at the Faculty of Architecture at ČVUT. After years of gaining experience at home and abroad, we established our own studio, Mimosa Architects, in 2009. We are currently located in Mánes in Prague.
We don’t differentiate between small and large-scale projects, but are able to deal with a range of things, from design to town planning. We actively participate in national and international architectonic competitions, and have had a number of successes. Our projects are realised in both Bohemia and Moravia, and for some time now we have been cooperating with our partners abroad.
Our work is based on the detailed analysis of our main task. This leads to a clearly defined theme, which we continue to develop and allow to serve us as a guide in all phases of design and the resulting implementation.
We strive for simple yet fully-realised responses to location. We focus on the task, as well as the individuality of a client, and on the cultural and social context in which a project resides. We do our utmost to arrive at a symbiosis between a rational and emotional view of the world around us.

We always bear in mind that architecture is not a goal but a means. We don’t create architecture-for-architecture’s sake, but take into account the desires and needs of our clients as well as society and surroundings, and transform them all into something solid. This for us is architecture.
We enjoy the question of where the boundary between two environments begins and ends, or where there are no apparent borders: taking pleasure in playing with the notions of interior and exterior.
In our designs we aim for an interaction between disparate environments in order to create an environment with feeling, an environment with which one can identify and be happy in.
We search for the answers to the questions “What is important for us?”, “What value do the things surrounding us have?” and “What are we?” with the inhabitants of ‘our’ houses.

The exterior of a house is by its nature tied to its surroundings, whilst the interior is tied to its inhabitants. The house reveals how we define ourselves within our environment, the interior reveals who we are.
Coming face-to-face with different types of interiors, with the atmospheres they generate and how they are presented are further chances to learn more about yourself. And Insidecor wants to give these chances to everyone.

[Jana] Many people think that architecture is just what we live in.
[Petr] …or only what people have built.
[Pavel] Architecture is nevertheless what has yet to be built!

[Jana] Yes, to create an interior is the main reason why people build houses! Futhermore, the interior existed way before houses.
[Petr] We ought to have something much more up-to-date.

[Petr] Which book occurs to you when you think about an interior?
[Jana] The interior for the sheep in The Little Prince!
[Petr] Do you see it the same way?
[Pavel] “One sees clearly only with the heart. What really matters is invisible to the eyes.”

[Petr] Someone could say that the four-legged chair is now a relic…
[Pavel] And someone could say that you don’t have to sit on a chair.
[Jana] This one is for sitting on, for sure.
[Petr] Even this one will do.

[Pavel] I imagine the landscape as meadows, mountains, blue sky… Just something sentimental.
[Jana] Of course, but a city is also a landscape.
[Petr] And a landscape even extends into the interior!
