The first independent projects of A1 Architects date from the year 2003. Two years later a studio and creative workshop were founded in Prague. Today this studio is based around the work of architects Lenka Křemenová and David Maštálka, who were students together in Prague at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design.

The primary features of our studio are cooperation between design disciplines and the way we search for unique solutions to design problems. All of our projects are completed with the greatest attention to detail, starting with the whole concept and moving on to the interior detail and the creation of utility objects for the home.

The interior is the principal aspect of architecture. Dealing with it requires respect, experience and above all courage. Creating an interior is like writing a novel – it is not the author’s name that matters, but how he or she is able to draw the reader into the story.

This is the result of an internal workshop during which we discussed some proposals for further signature houses. And here we decided to explore the topic of unconstrained living in a limited space. The main drive was a desire to find and design a house which according to conventional standards is considered small, but in reality hides a type of greatness within itself. A search for houses whose potential capacity belies their small appearance, houses with inner poetry.
